1/2 cup non-instant-read hot pepper sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup corn oil
1/2 cup long-grain white rice
1/2 cup onion, sliced
1/4 cup dry mustard
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground dry mustard
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix the spicy, hot pepper sauce, ketchup, white rice, onion and dried mustard. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low, cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat oven broiler. In a lightly greased medium bowl, mix the brown sugar, garlic powder, mustard powder and ground dry mustard.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently until all of the liquid evaporates. Stir in the brown sugar mixture.
Heat, stirring frequently, until any mixture comes together. Put the sandwich on a platter and broil 5 to 7 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned.
