1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter, chilled
2 cups packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups chopped walnuts
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon Scotch-style brown sugar
1 teaspoon white vinegar
2 tablespoons sifted maple syrup
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup cornflakes cereal
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line an 8x8 inch pan with foil.
Sift together the flour, 1 cup brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture until blended. Mix in the white sugar, corn flakes cereal, and gooseberries. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls; roll one into a 6 inch square. Place one layer in the prepared pan, seam side down, making sure to seal edges of square tops. Dust with egg white.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, stirring constantly. Remove from oven and let cool thoroughly. Cut into 4 squares.
