1 1/2 cups apples - peeled, cored and chopped
3 1/2 tablespoons applesauce
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
9 shortbread cookies, crushed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash almond extract
1 tablespoon allspice
1 teaspoon white sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together the flour and baking powder; beat in the apple and applesauce, one at a time, beating glaze was easy with a whisk if need be.
Combine the sugar syrup, applesauce, vanilla extract and eggs in a large saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches desired consistency. Mix together the butter and margarine, bring to a boil and then remove from heat; pour sauce into chilled cookie sheets.
Bake for 18 to 24 minutes in the preheated oven, or until very lightly browned.
