Homemade Rye Bread Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups rye flour

1 cup boiling water

8 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

4 tablespoons sesame seeds

4 teaspoons orange juice

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon cider vinegar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1/2 teaspoon dried sage

1 teaspoon baking soda

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, combine rye flour, boiling water, and butter or margarine. Beat in salt, baking powder, sesame seeds, orange juice, lemon juice, vinegar, and cornstarch. Mix until thoroughly combined.

Turn out loaf into a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Dust with baking powder.

Bake 60 minutes in the preheated oven, until top is golden brown. Cool loaf on a rack.

To make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, orange juice, lemon juice, cider vinegar, cornstarch, chicken bouillon granules, vegetable oil, sage, and baking soda. Shape into a smooth paste and let cool.
