1 cup white sugar
salt to taste
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 1/4 cups milk
3 eggs
In a glass bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, salt, flour, lemon zest and milk. Beat at medium speed for 30 seconds, or until smooth. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
To serve, layer 1/2 cup sugar mixture in middle of 3-inch serving pan. Spread cream cheese mixture over middle layer of butter cream layer, gently spreading over whole pan. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
