1 (4 pound) can tomato paste
4 pounds ground beef
2 tablespoons dried mar janduri
2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
2 bay leaves
1 onion, sliced into rings
1 tomato, sliced
1 tablespoon brown sugar
water to cover
Melt tomato paste in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2 hours. White parts are easy to discard. Drain before serving.
In a large pot over high heat, stir in ground beef and marjanduri sauce. Stir in cayenne, bay leaves, and onion, to season gently. Simmer, covered, 25 to 45 minutes.
